TRINITY, FLORIDA, USA, November 10, 2019 / -- Kevin McCullough is the Broker/Owner of McCullough & Associates Realty, Inc. in Trinity, Florida. He is also a Certified Military Relocation Professional, which means that he is specifically trained to guide Veterans, eligible surviving spouses and Active-Duty Service Members on how to take advantage of the numerous housing benefits of the VA loan, awarded to those who serve and protect our Country.

Recently, Kevin received a call from a retired Marine and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, who were under duress due to their landlord wanting to sell the house they were renting. They wanted to purchase a home utilizing their VA loan benefits, but could not find a realtor who understood their unique situation and challenges. They were in a race against time, with nowhere to go, when they were fortunate enough to meet Kevin McCullough. Within two weeks, Kevin was able to get them a nice home where they only had to pay $100.00 to move into a $160,000.00 home.
Kevin says, “I understood the stress they were under and I assured them that I would get them into a nice house quickly. I reached out to my lender, Frank Coto, who is the President of Lincoln Lending in Tampa, and we made it happen. I was able to show the appraiser the upgrades of the house and it appraised $10,000.00 higher than the contract price.”

Kevin got creative and was able to help them with their closing costs. He asked the listing agent if they could add an addendum to increase the purchase price by $3,000.00 and because they agreed to do so, it ended up covering all of his clients closing costs, except the $100.00. Kevin was elated that everyone worked together to make this happen for Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. He says, “This not only made the cost go down for my clients at the closing table, but they are now paying less money to own their home than they were while renting. I was also able to get them credit toward the down-payment and if that hadn’t happened, I was going to use my own commission to make sure they were able to buy the house.”

Bill Vogel, a friend and associate of Kevin’s said, “I wish there were more agents like Kevin. He went over and above what any other real estate agent would have done in this situation. He is a great American with high integrity and ethics. I’ve worked with him for years and he has a great staff of wonderful people who are professional and work together as a team. Because of the level of stress and anxiety that Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were experiencing during this process, Kevin had to keep reassuring them that everything was going to be fine and that things were going to work out. When I handed them the keys to their new home, they had tears in their eyes. They couldn’t thank me enough. But, in all honesty, it was my way of thanking them for their service. HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA, USA, September 25, 2017 / -- Jerry Bourrell is an intelligent, well-informed and resourceful Associate Broker at Leading Edge Real Estate Group in Huntsville, Alabama.

Jerry grew up in Laurel, Mississippi and attended R.H. Watkins high school. His passion for the outdoors and his belief in service to others led him to the Boy Scouts of America. Recognized by his peers for service, leadership, and brotherhood, He was selected to become a member of Scouting’s National Honor Society, Order of the Arrow and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. 

He says, “I believe the Scout Oath and Law were an integral part in forming who I became as an adult. My family has a proud tradition of serving our country in the Military and I wanted to continue that tradition, broaden my cultural understanding of the world, and continue my education.” He graduated from boot camp in the top ten percent of his class, gaining promotion prior to transferring. The USS Abraham Lincoln was his first ship and he was assigned to the Oxygen and Nitrogen (O2N2) shop in Engineering. He stood out by quickly qualifying as a supervisor on the complex O2N2 generating system. A senior Non- Commissioned Officer normally holds this position with an advanced degree in cryogenics. Jerry requested special permission from the Commanding Officer to waive the rank and school requirements in order to qualify and after his tour on the ship, he transferred to Meridian Naval Air Station.

Once again, he was appointed to a supervisor position, being placed in charge of three sailors in the O2N2 shop. He seized the opportunity to purse his education and completed forty-four hours of college credit receiving his AA degree while simultaneously, completing an Emergency Medical Technician course and volunteering at a local fire department.

It was during this time, that Jerry met his wife and decided to transfer to Marine Corp Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. He had already visited Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Australia and wanted to share the experience of learning about other countries and their cultures with his wife. Prior to their departure, Jerry attended an advanced engineering school on cryogenics, and air conditioning, refrigeration and graduated third out of thirty students.

Jerry supervised a team of nine American and Japanese workers producing oxygen and nitrogen on recently purchased O2N2 generating plants for the US and Japanese military. He created and developed personnel qualification standards, engineering operating procedures and strategic short and long- term preventative maintenance plans, which increased safety for the equipment and operators. He and his wife immediately immersed themselves into learning the Japanese culture, heritage, and language through classes at the University of Maryland. They enjoyed learning about the Japanese culture, and desired to continue expanding their international experience while representing America overseas. Their next opportunity was on board the USS La Salle in Gaeta, Italy, where he supervised and managed the Valve Shop, Oil Lab, Gauge Calibration Lab and maintained the ships repair parts inventory worth over $250, 000.00.

Jerry developed detailed written plans, using them to brief and lead a 25-man multinational team on the safe transfer of over 4 million gallons of fuel in port and at sea. Discovering a gap required certifications in the quality assurance program, which Jerry initiated and then implemented a command wide training program resulting in a successful review of the ships quality assurance program. After decommissioning the USS La Salle, he transferred to the USS George H.W.Bush.

Nine months after starting his new job, Jerry was selected “Sailor of the Year” for the ship, earning recognition as the top- rated sailor in his rank. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and led forty-three sailors in six work centers, in the successful completion of 1,047 preventative and corrective maintenance items, including emergent repairs on three AC plants, one refrigeration unit, and one oxygen plant.

Jerry also volunteered to serve with the Army, conducting Detainee operations in Iraqi for a year. During this time, he managed and supervised 35 sailors and 45 Iraqi Correction Officers responsible for the care of over a thousand ideologically extreme, high-risk detainees. Upon his return, he transferred to the US Embassy in Rome, Italy to work in the Defense Attaché Office where he managed and directed five Italians in the administrative and operational support of six Attachées and two Liaison Officers. As the Diplomatic Clearances Program Manager, he supervised and obtained diplomatic clearances for four thousand eight hundred Military flights, over one thousand hazardous material flights, and over a hundred US ship visits by communicating and coordinating in Italian with the Italian Air Force and Navy.

Jerry also organized and coordinated distinguished visitor appointments to Italy, for the President and VP of the United States, two Ambassadors, four Congressional Delegations, The Secretary of Defense, The Secretary of State, and The Secretary of Navy, with multiple agencies involved.

Jerry says, “I believe that the knowledge, skills, and experience gained through my Naval career have given me a heart to serve my community.” His motto is: “Life is a Journey and a Pocket full of Memories and that if I can help someone put a Memory in their Pocket, then I done something worthwhile.”

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA, USA, AUGUST 2, 2017/ ---Christopher “Chris” Calhoon is a highly regarded and immensely respected Vietnam Veteran.

Chris is also immensely decorated, being the recipient of the Purple Heart Decoration, Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star of Valor awards, the Cross of Gallantry with the Bronze Star, Sea Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Parachutist's Badge, Air Assault Badge and Master Army Aviator Badge.

Chris was born in San Francisco, California, raised in San Rafael and attended the University of San Francisco, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. 

Chris says, “My mother wanted me to be an Attorney, but I excelled in history, and because of the war, it was mandatory to be in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in college. I loved it. I worshipped the NCO’s there. I was drafted in 1968.”

Chris worked 3 jobs while in college and received a scholarship for ROTC, which paid the tuition for his Junior and Senior year and deferred his draft status until he graduated. In his Junior year, he was the number one Cadet as a Brigade Sergeant Major and in his Senior year he was the Brigade Commander and won the Military Science Award.

In June of 1970, Chris was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant in the Army and went to the United States Army Officer Candidate School for training as an Airborne Ranger, where only 40% graduated, due to its level of difficulty.

Chris was then assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in the 82nd Airborne Division 3rd Brigade 1-505 Infantry and his job was 1st Rifle Platoon Leader. He was selected to be the Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, where there was only one Leader per Infantry Battalion. 

Then, he went to Vietnam. 

Chris says, “I was on the Cambodian border, by myself. We didn’t go in Units. I was made a Battalion Senior Adviser with a South Vietnamese Infantry Battalion, the 52nd Regimen - Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN).”

Chris traveled with them on combat operations until March of 1972. He then went on his R&R. While he was there, his Unit in Vietnam got overrun and decimated. He flew back and couldn’t go back to them because of the remnants. Every single one of them were surrounded and wounded, due to the Offensive of 1972. Chris recalls, “The casualties of the advisers were so severe that I had to help out another regiment advisory team and didn’t rejoin my team until July.”

Chris spent the rest of his tour in Anlock and left in 1974. He says, “Subsequently, I went to Fort Wolters, Texas, to train to become an Army Helicopter Pilot and then went to Advanced Helicopter Training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Then, I was assigned to Fort Richardson in Alaska and they put me in the 120th Assault Helicopter Company. As a result, I was a UH-1 Section Leader and the AH-1 Cobra Platoon Leader and Operations Manager.”

Chris then left aviation and moved over to the Infantry Brigade, where he commanded an Infantry Company. He states that Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf Jr., was the Brigade Commander and “Norm put me in Command of the 173rd Aviation Section, so I went back to Fort Benning for the Infantry Officer Career Courses.”

He relocated to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for the 101st Airborne ‘Screaming Eagles’ as the first Leader of the Attack Helicopter Battalion - 229, the AH-1 Cobra. He then became a Company Commander and moved on to Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, to attend Air Command and Staff College. He says, “From there, they sent me to the Navy Base Coronado, where I flew off Amphibious Assault Ships with the UH-1N. Then, I worked on the USS Tripoli and Tarawa as an Air Operations Officer and wrote the daily air plan. I spent almost 12 months at sea, all in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, Hawaii, the Philippines, Hawaii, Okinawa, Korea, Australia and San Diego.”

Chris met his beautiful wife, Rina, at the Marine Corp’s Recruit Depot Officers Club and it was love at first sight for him. He was then promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and sent to Alaska, having been selected to Command the 222nd Aviation Battalion at Fort Wainwright.

Chris then went to the Army College at Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania, before being sent to Hawaii as Commander of Chief of the Pacific at the All States Headquarters. He says, “I was selected as a speech writer for Huntington Hardisty, the great 4 Star Admiral-in-Charge and then selected for Brigade Commander as a Full Colonel. I was very honored to have this position because I got along very well with him and his wife. I was privy to the personal side of his life and he was truly a stand-up guy. This was my last assignment.”

Chris was sent back to Alaska at Fort Wainwright and commanded the Aviation Brigade of the 6th Infantry Division until he retired, where he had also practiced Real Estate part time while he was a Pilot, flying commercial helicopters for Hele Lifts & Air Logistics of Alaska.

After three years, he decided to become a full-time agent because, “My Real Estate checks were doubled to my Pilot checks and I was tired of being overworked and underpaid, so I opened my own business in 1998. I became the first exclusive buyer’s agent in Fairbanks.”

Fairbanks, known as ‘The Golden Heart City,” is located in the central Tanana Valley, straddling the Chena River near its confluence with the Tanana River. Immediately north of the city is a chain of hills that rises gradually until it reaches the White Mountains and the Yukon River.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, January 11, 2017 / --

Howard Curry is an impressively skilled Broker Associate at Century 21 Beachside Realtors in Southern California.

Howard was born in Japan and is the son of a career Army Veteran. 

His family moved every two years to places such as Frankfurt, Presidio, Okinawa, Washington D.C., and Denver before his father retired in San Antonio, Texas. He says, “As a kid, I personally had a tough time because we moved so often. Just as I began to make friends and look forward to the new school year, we had to relocate. Because of that, I never had any lifelong friends, with very few exceptions, such as my dad’s friends’ kids who were my age. We would run across each other at various Military bases. It was a way of life which offered a lot of opportunities for world travel, but it could also be very difficult.”

After high school graduation, Howard attended Texas A&M University and received a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering.

During his early professional career, he worked for Fortune 100 companies in the telecommunications industry designing telephone circuits and cable television systems. Subsequently, he transitioned to the defense electronics and aerospace industry to build high tech aircraft electronics and weapons systems.

Additionally, he also distinguished himself as an entrepreneur having owned a successful engineering consulting firm and was one of the co-founders for a start-up Information Technology (IT) company.

Howard says, “I enjoyed almost every endeavor I was exposed to in my life. With so many interests and opportunities, it was a challenge to zero in on just one thing. While I was in college, the Navy approached me on a program for Pilots and I always had a desire to fly. My preference was to be a Fighter Pilot and I felt that Navy Pilots were special due to their capability to operate off an aircraft carrier. I discussed this opportunity with my father as it was a dilemma for me. Should I graduate and become an Engineer or a Pilot?

One year after graduation, the same recruiter called me and asked me what I was doing for lunch. We met and unexpectedly we were 'wheels up' in a T-34C where he allowed me fly the aircraft. I was exhilarated! Shortly afterwards, I reported to the Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS) in Pensacola, Florida. Anecdotally, AOCS was the premise for the movieAn Officer and a Gentleman’. Initially, there were approximately 48 people in the class; however, only 16 graduated due to the demanding nature of the program.”

Howard’s Naval career spans over 20 years and is interspersed with both active duty and reserve time. He served as a Senior Intelligence Officer and attended the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. His experience included assignments at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Reconnaissance Office, Naval Special Warfare Command, and in the aviation community. He has held various positions of increasing responsibility to include serving as Commanding Officer and attaining the rank of Commander. He says, “My experience with the intelligence community has been a blessing as it provided me with interesting aerospace and defense electronics opportunities working as a Systems Engineer and Project Manager.”

One of his key contributions to the community was his service as a Los Angeles Reserve Police Officer. He graduated from the LAPD Reserve Academy and was assigned to the 77th Division in South Central Los Angeles for 3 years.

There he worked as a Patrol Officer. Aside from performing typical law enforcement duties, he was recognized for actively supporting various local events for the homeless. He also received a letter of commendation for his participation in restoring order during the 1992 LA riots.

Howard says, “I love challenges; however, I’ve worked for so many years in a fast paced, high stress environment that I was simply burned out. I wanted better control of my destiny and to transition to something completely different where I could work on my own time, so I decided to get into Real Estate.”

Howard’s Real Estate background includes residential investment properties. He studied Real Estate at Mt. San Antonio College. He is currently a ‘Million Dollar Producer’ at Century 21 Beachside in Chino Hills. He is an expert property valuations professional having provided extensive Broker Price Opinions for major financial institutions.

His certifications and designations includes Military Relocation Professional, Certified Distressed Property Expert, Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource, Broker Price Opinion Resource. He is a designated USAA Preferred Broker and Navy Federal Credit Union Realty Plus Agent.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, USA, October 12, 2017 / -- Jean Plank is a distinguished Military Veteran who spent twenty-one years in the United States Army. He says, “I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps and serve my country.”

Jean went through basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and continued advanced training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in Field Artillery Weapons Systems. He then relocated to Fort Carson, Colorado and served in the 1st Battalion 27th Field Artillery.

It was here that a friend introduced him to his future wife Kimberly. 

They got married and had their first child, Ricky, before transferring to Wertheim, Germany where they welcomed twin daughters, Alexandra and Ashley.

Jean retired as an Operation Sergeant and decided to pursue a career in Real Estate, “because it gives me pleasure to help people find a home, just as people helped me and I enjoy talking and interacting with people.” He began working at Sellstate Realty in Colorado Springs in 2015 and shortly thereafter, obtained his Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification from the National Association of Realtors.

Because Jean is conscientious, diligent, responsive and easy to work with, he wanted to be immersed in his community on every level possible. He was subsequently introduced to a wonderful program called “Homes for Heroes,” which harmonized perfectly with his dreams and ideas. He says, “I was very excited about this opportunity because it’s such a fantastic occasion for me to interact with our local Firefighters, Police Officers, Teachers, Healthcare Workers, EMT’s and Military (Active/Veterans), in terms of being able to provide them with unprecedented rewards when they sell or purchase a home.”

Homes for Heroes was created shortly after the tragic events of 9/11 as a humble way of saying, “Thank You” to those who serve and sacrifice so much for the safety, security and well-being of our country and the local communities they serve. Jean says, “Homes for Heroes truly resonated with me. I was deployed on a one-year tour in the first Gulf War in  Iraq, where I served in combat operation. We were shooting rockets for four straight days with no sleep – pushing the enemy as far back as we could push them from Kuwait into Iraq. The counter-fire was tremendous and it was very scary. Not everyone gets to come home from war, and the most important thing in the world is having a home to come home to.”

It is for this reason that Jean wants every first responder, teacher, healthcare worker and Military member in his community of Colorado Springs, to know about how he can assist them in every way possible to make home ownership a reality for the local heroes. “To me, Police Officers are the first-line of defense. They have earned the reputation and the right to wear the uniform and serve our residents. It is an extremely difficult and dangerous profession and they are often underappreciated when it comes to getting their fair share of accolades.”

Jean continues, “Teachers are very important heroes to me as well. They set the standard for learning and push us to achieve more than what we would expect for ourselves. Kate was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, raised in Doylestown, and graduated from Central Bucks High School West, where she played soccer and was a captain her senior year. She worked in the summer as an Activities Director at a day camp, running a rock wall and low ropes course for 9-12 year olds.

Kate graduated from the University of Delaware, majoring in Criminal Justice with a Spanish Minor. She had always wanted to be a federal law enforcement officer and even did her high school senior project on the Secret Service because “My uncle was a Philadelphia cop and when the Secret Service came to town, he was the point man. I was so interested in that line of work and knew that was the direction I wanted to take!”

However, just when Kate was about to graduate from high school and ready to start college, her guidance counselor mentioned, “I think you would have been good at one of the military academies.” No one had ever said that to her before and so that seed was planted. Because of that seed, Kate decided to join an ROTC program at UD. Early in that first fall semester, a stranger approached her between classes and said “You’re Kate, right? You would LOVE Ranger Company class!” That stranger got Kate hooked and later became a best friend. The class taught different infantry battle drills and leadership tactics and concluded with a Field Training Exercise. Towards the end of her freshman year, Kate was offered a 3- year scholarship from the Army ROTC program. “I knew from Day 1 that I was meant for the military,” Kate says. She willingly accepted the opportunity.

As a cadet, Kate was chosen to attend and graduated from the United States Army Airborne School. She also won the prestigious Marshall Award for being the top cadet in her senior class.

Kate’s first choice of branch was to be in the Signal Corps. She was accepted and attended her Officer Basic Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and got orders to the 112th Signal Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She was a Platoon Leader and one of only 3 females in her company. They supported the Special Forces Units when they deployed with their communication equipment. She says, “This was by far my most favorite job of my career... that company was FAMILY. They helped groom me to be the leader I am today and I am forever grateful. I still have strong relationships to this day with many of those Soldiers.”

Kate was deployed first to Mosul, Iraq and also to Qatar before returning back to Fort Bragg and taking over as her company’s Executive Officer. Shortly after that she got orders to be the Executive Officer at Bravo Company, 3rd Psychological Operations (PSYOP) Battalion - the TV and radio broadcast company that supported the other battalions in the 4th PSYOP Group.

While Kate was at the POG, she “sold her way” into Jumpmaster school. “I remember that there were only four slots open, and there were five us on standby to get in the class. There was an SF Sergeant Major who only wanted to let one more in, but I guaranteed him that the last two of us would graduate if he let us both in. That got a nervous look from the E-6 next to me. Good thing the SGM believed me. We both were first time ‘GOs’!”

Kate did decide to get out of the military after 4+ years for personal reasons yet landed an incredible job with Ethicon Endo Surgery, a division of Johnson&Johnson, selling medical devices used in surgery. It was an incredible training opportunity to learn and hone her sales skills.

After she bounced around to Long Island, Seattle, and Denver with J&J, Kate decided to take a leap of faith and move back east so she could marry her college crush. Leaving J&J was necessary, so she took her father’s advice and started a career in real estate. It clicked! She signed up for the real estate class and has never looked back!

Kate has thrived in every aspect of her new calling ever since. She takes a consultative sales approach with her clients and her main goal is to keep the process simple while keeping more money in their pockets.

Kate has never forgotten the importance of educating and informing the public of the sacrifices that our military men and women experience every single day – whether overseas or at home. She has lost a number of friends and Soldiers to suicide and is focused upon bringing a deeper awareness to the reality of this tragedy.

Born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Kevin grew up in Northern Virginia. He graduated from Bethlehem Baptist Christian Academy where he played Varsity Soccer and Basketball all four years. After high school he went to the Army’s Basic Training in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He says, “I got a full ride scholarship for soccer to Valley Forge Military College where I also played football and tennis. Every other weekend I went for Military training, digging foxholes and sleeping in them. I crammed four years of training into two years, did most of my training during the school year at Ft Dix, New Jersey. I went to Advanced Camp in Fort Bragg, North Carolina where I was in charge of platoons and squadrons and various leadership roles.”

Valley Forge Military College is extremely competitive as it seeks to enroll young men of sound moral character who possess strong scholastic, mental and physical qualities. In particular, they look for those who are motivated to achieve their full potential and go on to succeed at top U.S. colleges and Universities. When Kevin graduated Valley Forge with a Degree in Business Administration. he elected to not continue on with the Army. He said, “I just wanted to be a regular college kid, so I got out with the experience and knowledge that I gained”.

Kevin then transferred to James Madison University where he majored in Marketing and bartended his way through school. After college he got a job at a Mortgage Company and was heavily trained on all aspects of mortgages and he cold-called people offering them programs to refinance their homes. In 2003 he moved to Florida where he bought his first house and continued in the mortgage business until 2008 when the housing bubble caused the subprime mortgage industry to collapse. On December 30, 2008, the Case–Shiller home price index reported its largest price drop in its history. The credit crisis resulting from the bursting of the housing bubble is—according to general consensus—an important cause of the 2007–2009 recession in the United States. He recalls, “I couldn’t do loans anymore, banks closed and everything, but I had a strong network of people I had been working with through the years. I took a salary position as Director of Operations of a law firm. I was in charge of the budget, so I hired secretaries and IT people, vendors and basically ran the law firm so the attorneys could focus on their cases. It was there that I learned why proper planning is important. I was soaking in all of the legal advice and laws possible. I was also a Property Manager and had several rental properties that I took care of.”

Because of all of the Real Estate clients the law firm was handling, the Attorney told Kevin that he needed to get his Real Estate license, so he did. “I took online courses at night while working nights and weekends in Real Estate at the law office during the day” He says, “I wanted to be self-employed, so I worked my way towards being a Broker and after I passed the Broker exam I established McCullough & Associates Realty, Inc. It’s a small boutique brokerage with a real personal touch.”

Kevin was also putting his fiancée Sarah, through Nursing School and they now have three children, Damien, Jazlyn and Keenan. During this time, he was also flipping houses. “I learned a whole lot doing that. BPO orders, Commercial properties and things of that nature. I’ve had investors for commercial properties as well as residential. Because of my knowledge and networking skills, I have a guy for everything – flooring, plumbing, roofing – you name it, and I know how much it costs to get the job done, which is a huge asset to my clients.”

While taking more continuing education classes, Kevin saw that the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification was being offered, so he got it. “I’ve always had a lot in common with the Military. COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA, USA, January 23, 2018 / -- Edward Ed Besecky is a charismatic and well-informed Real Estate Agent at Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Ed graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York in 1982. He says, “My dad was a U.S. Army Military Veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War and I wanted to follow in his footsteps by serving our great nation.” 

After graduation, Ed was commissioned as an officer (Ensign) in the US Naval Reserves (USN-R), proudly serving for 11 years and reaching the rank of Lieutenant.

Starting in 1982, Ed worked for the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) for 31 years. He says, “I was an International Program Manager and worked closely with military for the nations of Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Afghanistan, and Germany during the later stages of his career.” In the early stages, Ed was a Maritime Analyst and production line supervisor.

As a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) entity, Ed worked closely with the DoD and major foreign allies – standardizing and exchanging maps – making sure the foreign partner conformed to US/NATO standards. He was responsible for providing his foreign partners with the latest, updated maps. “I was in charge of making sure their mapping was in accordance with the United States policy, guidance and direction for my specific country.” Ed deployed to SW Asia in support of the programs that he managed.

One of Ed’s favorite projects was when he deployed for nine months working on a research ship in partnership with the Naval Oceanographic Office. This research ship collected sediment samples from the bottom of the ocean then researched, analyzed it and mapped it. “We needed to know what the bottom of the ocean was made of.” The ship also collected magnetic, bathymetric, and hydrographic data for U.S. Government use. The analysis of ocean data makes it possible to understand the ocean in new and exciting ways.

Ed was working in the Electronic Navigation Division at DMA when he met his wife, Karen, who was also working at DMA. They began socializing, became best friends, fell in love and married in 1987. Ed and Karen are now both licensed realtors for Coldwell Banker in Cocoa Beach, FL. Together they have two sons, Jason and Brett. Jason graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and is currently a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Brett followed his parent’s footsteps and pursued a career in Real Estate with them.

Brett says, “I knew at the age of 4 that I wanted to be a fighter pilot. My grandfather was in the Air Force and my other grandfather was in the Korean War. I loved to hear all of his Military stories and watch old Army movies with him. I have the most immense respect for those who serve our country. My brother went to the Air Force Academy and I’ve always looked up to him. He knows the answer to everything and I consider him to be the smartest person on the planet and has the truest of hearts. PENSACOLA, FLORIDA , USA, April 18, 2018 / -- Bob Breathitt is a commendable, respected and trustworthy Real Estate Agent at Southern Real Estate Sales in Pensacola, Florida. He is also licensed to work in the State of Alabama.

Bob was born in San Diego, California, due to his father being stationed at Camp Pendleton as a Marine Corps Boot Camp Instructor. The family later moved to Marin County in Northern California where he graduated from San Rafael High School.

Upon graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and went to Boot Camp at Naval Air Station, San Diego, California. He says, "I was able to get a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), in Aviation Electronics. My dad, a Marine Corps Veteran with multiple tours in Vietnam, didn’t want me in Vietnam, because he truly loved his son and that, alone, really played a big part in my decision. I looked up to him and respected his advice.”

Bob was then transferred across the country to the very prestigious Naval Aviation "A" School in Millington, Tennessee, and then to North Island, California to go to school for water and land survival training, then to Moffett Field in California for extensive flight training.

Bob flew on the P-3 Orion Patrol Aircraft, which is uniquely suited as the world’s premier multi-mission maritime long-endurance aircraft. The P-3 performs air, surface and subsurface patrol and reconnaissance tasks over extended periods - far from any support facilities. “I wore several hats.” He recalls. “ I was the communications coordinator and the electronics systems repairman while on flights. The P-3 flew long missions, often 12 to 16 hours. During the mission, if something broke, we fixed what we could.”

Bob was stationed at several bases, including Naval Air Station Barber’s Point Oahu, Hawaii, where he was assigned to Patrol Wing 2, VP-6, which was famously known as “The Blue Sharks.” From there, he flew all over the Western Pacific, Southeast Asia traveling to Korea, Iran, and The Philippines.

It was here in Hawaii that his enlistment contract ended. He completed his 4-year service to the Navy. Prior to retiring to the Gulf Coast in January of 2000, Bob made his home in Western Kentucky, where he started his Real Estate education with classes in Real Estate Law at The University of Kentucky. He gained experience in building construction, zoning, and plan review and as a property investor.

As a Deputy State Fire Marshall, Bob became interested in Real Estate, since he wore several hats in this position, including City Building Inspector, national B.O.C.A. certified plan reviewer. He learned a great deal about builders, suppliers, electricians, concrete installation and much more. He got to know, very well, the relationships that existed and worked together as a whole, in the Real Estate industry. His relatives were well established there in politics, including positions as the Governor and Attorney General. He says, “I think it was expected of me to get involved in service to the government on some level.”

When his father passed, Bob left the police department to return to be a student full time. He went Austin Peay State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, then to the University of Kentucky where he took Real Estate Law courses.

Bob returned to Hopkinsville and joined the Fire Department, was a Fireman for 16 years and was able to retire from the State with 27 years of service in the Military, Police Department and Fire Department.

The best interest of the client is what motivates Bob. He understands that buying and selling Real Estate, especially one's own home, is a very personal and at times an emotional experience. He is involved in every aspect of the process: from competitive market analyses, price opinions, listing, and marketing. “It all comes down to living by the Golden Rule. I always try to treat clients as I'd like to be treated if I were buying or selling my own house.”

In 2000 Bob moved to Pensacola, Florida to retire. He earned his Real Estate license and bought a house near the back gate of Naval Air Station Pensacola, where he now specializes in Military Relocation. He says, “I want to help our Veteran and Active-Duty families any way that I can.”

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA , USA, November 14, 2017 /  Larry Leaman is a genuine and thoughtful Real Estate agent at National Realty of Brevard in Melbourne, Florida and as a retired USAF MSgt, he understands and loves to work with fellow Veterans.

Larry enlisted in the Air Force in September 1977 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. 

His first duty assignment was with the 2854th CES, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. There he met his wife, Maria at the Airman’s Pub, and after a year of dating and dancing they were married on June 22nd, 1979 and had two wonderful children, Amber and Kyle. While at Tinker, Larry and Maria accepted Christ as their Savior and were baptized at Sooner Baptist Church. Larry achieved all of his metal fabrication skill levels while maintaining Logistics Command facilities and supervising and training young airman. He also served as a Structural Controller, Material Handler, Structural Planner and NCOIC Prime BEEF Warehouse.

In October 1986 the Air Force reassigned Larry and his family to the 475th CES, Yokota AFB, Japan. Larry says, “This was a wonderful time in our lives.” As the NCOIC of the Metal Shop his peace time job was managing and directing the military and civilian personnel in facility maintenance and airfield operations. Wartime skills increased with numerous Prime Beef training operations as the Air Cargo and Rapid Runway Repair NCOIC. “We attended an English-speaking missionary church called Yokota Baptist Church. One of my most remembered times was when we took a Japanese kindergarten bus to hike Mount Fuji. Wow, what a great time!”

In 1990 they arrived at their new assignment with 82nd CES, at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. Here, the mission was training the young cadets flight training with trainer aircraft. Larry recalls, “They had more takeoffs and landings than the Chicago O’Hare airport!” This was a short assignment due to base closure and friction in the Middle East. Being new on base, Larry wasn’t selected for the Desert Storm deployment. Sadly, his stepmother in Tampa, FL died of cancer, therefore, he requested and was granted a hardship assignment to the 1040th CES, Patrick AFB, FL and in May of 1991 he moved his family to be close to his father (Korean War Disabled Veteran of the 187th Airborne).

As TSgt, Larry quickly became the NCOIC of the Metal Shop, directing the military and civilian personnel and joining Patrick’s Prime BEEF unit. Maria, a stay-at-home mom, worked part time for Brevard Community College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. In March of ‘93, they closed on their new home in the new community of Viera. In April ’94 Larry served a TDY assignment to Aviano AFB, Italy. He worked to assist in the bed down and base expansion in direct support to the United Nations and NATO Operations in Operation Joint Endeavor (The conflict of the former Yugoslavia).

Upon return, Larry made Master Sergeant and became the Prime BEEF NCOIC directing team deployment, bed down and runway repair duties. Next, he was promoted to the NCOIC of the CES Zonal Maintenance Shop, leading and directing all maintenance crafts for Zone 2 of Patrick AFB. Later, he took charge and managed the Patrick AFB Self-Help Store where he assisted Patrick AFB squadrons and units with their self-help renovations, tools and equipment to improve organizational working conditions.

In 1997 Larry was offered an assignment to Kunsan AFB, Korea. Since the Air Force wasn’t offering a return assignment for his family, Maria already started her career with Brevard County Schools and the children were heading into high school. Larry decided to complete his education and give his retirement notice. In April of 1998, he received his Florida State Real Estate License and started selling real estate. In May of 1998, Larry received his AS Degree in Construction Technology with CCAF, his AS Degree in Business with BCC and retired from Air Force with the 45th CES, Patrick AFB.

Since Patrick and Cape Canaveral weren’t hiring, Larry decided that being his own boss in the real estate field was a good fit. His construction knowledge and experience, people skills and self-motivation quickly translated into a strong real estate career. JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA, USA, May 8, 2018 / -- Paul Ellsworth is a dynamic, charismatic and very productive Real Estate Agent at Florida Homes Realty & Mortgage in Jacksonville, Florida.

Paul was born at Womack Army Hospital at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. From there, moved to Hawaii where his father was stationed at Hickham Air Force Base for 3 years, before transferring to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. “It was wonderful.” He says, “The Bases offered me a plethora of experiences and opportunities that I cherish to this day. I was able to tour the submarines on family day in Hawaii, and at Tinker, I got to observe the Native American Indian culture and history, including seeing E-3 Sentry (AWACS) and the B-52 Bombers.”

Paul subsequently moved to Fort Myers, then Tallahassee, Florida. In his junior year at Lincoln High School, his family hosted a German exchange student. That summer Paul went to Germany as an exchange student. He traveled with a group sponsored by the Fulbright Education program. The group was chaperoned by a retired Air Force Colonel named Mr. Braxton. “We flew to England first, and I was able to visit Windsor Castle, which is a royal residence in the English county of Berkshire. It is notable for its long association with the English and later British royal family and for its architecture”. He recalls, “It was very cool to be there, because ‘The Royal Observatory’ was nearby, and it’s the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian line.”

After visiting ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’(cliffs that form part of the English coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France) Paul took a ferry boat across to Belgium, before embarking on a train to Germany. Paul’s host family lived near Cologne, Germany, and one of his fondest memories was being able to go up to the top of the highest mountain in Germany – Zugspitze –in a cable car. Paul was equally thrilled to visit the Kölner Dom, officially, ‘HoheDomkirche Sankt Petrus’ or, the ‘Cathedral Church of Saint Peter’ a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1996.

While still in high school, Paul was in the USAF Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol (CAP), played trumpet in the marching band and was accepted to several universities including the Citadel in South Carolina. Since his family wanted him to be closer to home, he enrolled at Florida State University. He auditioned and was accepted into FSU’s ‘Marching Chiefs’ band.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Paul worked as a Law Clerk Assistant for a visually impaired Attorney who was with the State of Florida Department of Health Care Administration. He drafted legal documents for him, read cases to him and helped him navigate everything that needed to be done on a day-to-day basis. This experience led to his transition to the Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) as a Legal Analyst. He says. “My job was to review investigative reports, go through the files and determine what action, if any, needed to be further investigated. We reviewed files and investigative reports related to Florida Construction Board to determine whether or not the State should pursue action or not.” Paul would have to either agree or disagree with the complaint, acting as a ‘go-between’ and then send the files to the Attorneys to make recommendations for or against disciplinary measures levied against licensed plumbers, roofers, electricians and anyone else working on homes.

Moving to Jacksonville, Florida, Paul worked at the University of North Florida as an Admissions Officer & College Recruiter. At the time, he also worked as an insurance agent where he attained his Series 6 National Association of Securities (NASD) licenses.

Throughout his adult life, Paul has been active in kung fu, tai chi chuan, and baguachang martial arts. He says, “One of the most priceless gifts of martial arts practice is to get to know yourself internally and externally. Through the practice, we become aware of what we think and why. What shapes our values and beliefs, then we can step back and look at it with more of a pure mind. It is the path to self-discipline and mastery. Martial Arts are about developing the will. ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA, December 1, 2015 / -- Egypt Sherrod, the amazingly beautiful host of HGTV’s popular shows, “Property Virgins” and "Flipping Virgins" has become a household name - with millions of viewers tuning in each week to see her in action. However, she is quick to say, “First of all, I am a Real Estate agent. I am not acting and that’s important for everyone to know. I have been licensed in New Jersey for many years and I’ve since relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.”

In an episode entitled “Emma & Claire,” the viewers are invited along to watch as Emma, a leasing consultant, and her sister Claire, go house hunting for the first time with Egypt while Emma’s fiancée, Jack, is thousands of miles away in the Navy, stationed in Washington State.

Egypt says, “Jack qualified for a VA loan which offers long-term financing for U.S. Veterans and takes away the need for any down-payment, so I am very excited to help Emma and Jack find their first house. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for our Military families and Jack and Emma are getting married in just a few months. They want to buy a house before their wedding, so it is up to Emma to find their perfect home in Atlanta and I have a lot of great places to show them.”

One of the first things Egypt asked Emma was what both she and Jack wanted in terms of their ideal home. Emma said that her biggest priority was a large kitchen with an island and a backyard large enough for her to plant a vegetable garden. Jack’s major concern was having an acre of land and a ‘man-cave.’

As a soon-to-be- Military spouse, Emma was having her first taste of the relocation process. She immediately skyped Jack, telling him, “It's kinda hard trying to do everything long distance, trying to remember everything that you want in a house and I’m really hoping that you trust me to do that.”

Egypt, ever the optimist, shows Emma and her sister Claire the first choice of houses in Canton and Emma immediately falls in love with it - yet she still wants to see other houses before she makes a decision to buy.

Egypt gently reminds Emma of the reality of being a first-time “virgin” property owner and says, “Although the market quickly turned into a seller’s market, some of the outskirts of Atlanta are still trying to trickle up. I think they’re still a little high, but they’ve only been on the market for about two weeks, so they haven’t felt it yet.”

Egypt then proceeds to take Emma and Claire to another desired neighborhood, Ball Ground, where they see plenty of other beautiful houses. Nonetheless, Emma was very attached to the first house in Canton and couldn’t be moved or persuaded to consider anything else.

Egypt reflects on the emotional attachment that she sees every day with her clients. “Despite all of the beautiful homes available, sometimes you just can’t beat the personal connection.” Emma wanted to make an offer on the Canton home, but the deal took an unexpected turn. Egypt had to inform her that there were now five other offers on the table. With her soothing, compassionate and comforting voice, Egypt tells Emma, “It’s never easy to hear that a million other people want to make an offer on your house and I say YOUR house because we’re going to claim it. So, the way I’ve done this in the past – and it always tends to work for me – is to go in, max out, and on the back end we can protect it by the appraisal. Your only chance of truly getting this house is to max out.”

As often happens in the rollercoaster of Real Estate transactions in progress, the seller decided to wait until he had all five offers on the table within 24 hours and would take the highest bid, of course. Now, it was a waiting game.

Egypt Sherrod has never been the type of person to wait. She is fond of saying to work on Plan B while you’re working on Plan A until you find Plan C to work them all together.

Egypt is a National Television, Radio Personality, Author, Speaker and Home Space Expert. With over 15 years as an accomplished Realtor, Egypt has been named ‘America's Most Beloved Real Estate Agent.’ She says, “I started in Radio when I was 18, hosting a Jazz Radio show. Then I got my first, real, full-time job in Radio as a Music Director. I was the youngest Music director in the country, in Philadelphia at age 19, and I was on air as well. So I was earning enough to start thinking about how I was going to make my money work for me. You see, while everyone else was buying pocketbooks and shoes, I was buying properties."

Egypt flipped her first property in Newark, New Jersey. It was a dilapidated three-family home. When she saw how much she profited from that, she said, “Oh, this is cool. So I can use my Radio salary to live, and the money I make from Real Estate can go towards retirement.”

Egypt then started building and nesting for herself and that’s when she really got bit by the Real Estate bug. She stresses that money is just a tool. “Money a tool to help us realize our dreams” she explains, “Money shouldn’t be the dream. We are not what we do for a living and I remind myself of that every day. My husband understands that. I am not my career. It’s what I do – it’s what I love, I’m fortunate enough to be able to earn a living doing so – but I’m much more than what I do to earn a living."

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, USA, March 20, 2017 / -- Bob and Gail McLain along with their granddaughter Morgan Batson, of CENTURY 21 Premier Real Estate in Columbus, Georgia, are Certified Military Relocation Professionals (MRP’s).

Bob says, “My Dad was in the Army Air Force (AAF) and worked in Aviation as a Radio Communications Technician.”

Gail says, “My Dad was in the Army so I understand the situations that they are put in. Cecilia Cook was born in Waynesville, North Carolina and graduated from Pisgah High School. Following high school, she moved to Charlotte, NC to attend Trident Technical College. 

While there, she accepted a position as a network clerk with BellSouth. She later transferred to an AT&T phone center store as a Customer Service Clerk and then to an AT&T Call Center. “I was supposed to go to Columbia, South Carolina but that position was cancelled.” She says, “So I ended up in Jacksonville, Florida.” Lucky for her, it’s where she met her husband, David. “I call that fate or divine intervention because if that job in Columbia hadn’t been cancelled, we might never have met!”

At that time, David was a US Marine Corps Reservist at Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida and working at the AT&T Call Center. About a year later, he made the choice to become an active duty Marine and transferred to Marine Air Station, El Toro, located in Orange County, California. It was during this time that the Cooks welcomed their firstborn, a daughter, named Maegan. 

The family moved back east to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, then on to Charleston, South Carolina, after David was accepted into a commissioning program. He attended The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. It was while living in Charleston that Cecilia’s interest in real estate began, as the young couple researched a first home purchase. During this time, their son Shane was born.

The family’s first duty station after David was commissioned was in Okinawa, Japan, where they spent three years. “It was a great experience.” Cecilia recalls, “The greatest experiences come when you are open to different cultures.” Sadly, six months before their next permanent change of station (PCS) move, Cecilia’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, so she and the children came home early to North Carolina.

Their next move was to South Weymouth, Massachusetts where David pursued a Master’s Degree through the Marine Corps advanced degree program. While David was attending class, Cecilia worked at the Naval Air Station (NASSouth Weymouth. She worked for the Commander, as a Secretary, during the transition period when the base was preparing to close due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). Once David finished his studies, the family moved to Northern Virginia while David was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps. Here, the family made their first new home purchase and Cecilia was again intrigued by the real estate market and its intricacies. 

The Cook family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where David was assigned as the Inspector Instructor (I&I) of Delta Company, 4th CEB. Cecilia went to work for a local media company. With the children in high school, the family decided to stay in the Knoxville area and David accepted a final assignment, an unaccompanied tour in Pakistan. He retired in 2004 and they stayed in the Knoxville area. “David took a job at a local contracting company as a Project Manager,” Cecilia says, “Then within the first six months they asked him to go to Iraq to oversee projects there.” Amid this transition from a military lifestyle to the civilian world, Cecilia was diagnosed with breast cancer. She states that while it doesn’t define her, it does put things in perspective. “Everyday is a gift and I try to live it to the fullest.”

In January of 2017, David and his company relocated to Guam to build hangars, due to the United States planning to transfer about 5,000 Marines stationed in Okinawa, Japan, to Guam - over a period from 2024 in 2028. The Marine Corps plans to base infantry headquarters, aviation squadrons and logistics support units on Guam. 

Marines train there routinely now and have a historic friendship with the people of Guam. The moves are part of a larger re-balancing of forces in the Western Pacific that will bolster air defenses and aviation capacity and add a wharf for visiting Navy aircraft carriers on Guam. The number of Marines and dependents based in Guam will increase each year through 2026, when the Corps reaches its goal of basing 5,000 Marines and 1,300 family members there. The biggest spike will occur between 2019 and 2020, when the total number of Marines based in Guam will jump from 387 to 2,990. Over the next several years, the Corps will boost the number of Marines based there by 300 to 900 annually.

Cecilia says, “In anticipation of moving to Guam, I went there to research properties and opportunities and to receive my salespersons license in Guam. I’m affiliated with Veteran’s Choice Realty in Tamuning, Guam, and I will be assisting Military families moving to Anderson Air Force base and Naval Base Guam. I am a preferred referral agent with Veteran’s United Mortgage and a premiere agent with Zillow and Trulia.”

The U.S. territory of Guam may be hard to reach, but once you get there you will love the beaches and be surprised by the great food. Cecilia says, “The island is just big enough that the U.S. Military presence in the north is not felt elsewhere, but small enough that a drive around the southern tip can be done in 40 minutes without stopping. This is where Guam's beautiful scenic overlooks, old Spanish bridges and waterfalls are concentrated. Guam competes with the sheer natural beauty of Hawaii and the wealth of beaches in the Bahamas, but more than that, the island offers an authentic, delicious and culturally rich getaway. There’s something new to do everyday.”

BOISE, IDAHO, USA, November 3, 2015 / -- Jody Hinton is an Associate Broker at Group One Real Estate in Boise, Idaho with 17 years of residential real estate experience. She and twin brother, Joseph were named after their father, Major Joseph D. Witmer.

Jody was born at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota where both parents were nurses at the base hospital. Captain Dorothy M. Abbott, outranked Joseph Sr. when they met. Both had recently returned to the U.S. following deployment to Korea. Jody says, “I was always very proud of my parents who cared for the enlisted Soldiers during the Korean conflict and committed their lives to service to our country.”

Following her parents’ marriage and the birth of the twins the Witmer family transferred to Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA where their second daughter, Kathleen, was born. Jody’s dad received orders for anesthesia school. 

Dorothy reluctantly gave up her commission in order to stay at home to raise the children. With three children in diapers and Joe in school, they lived on very little money. Somehow they found a way, as most Military families do.

Next the family got orders for Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee Falls. Joe traveled to Massachusetts ahead of them to find housing. At this time, Dorothy was pregnant with their third daughter, Mary Theresa, and everyone felt it was best for her and the children to stay near Joseph’s family in Nampa, Idaho. Sadly, Mary Theresa was born with spina bifida, a birth frailty where there is incomplete closing of the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. Mary Theresa spent most of her life in the hospital and passed away at the age of two in 1965 after the move to MA.

As difficult as this situation was for the family, they joined Joseph in Massachusetts just prior to Mary Theresa’s death and it was there that they welcomed their second son and fifth child, Stephen, into the world. New orders came and Joseph was transferred and traveled ahead of the family again to Lajes Field in the Azores Islands, Portugal, which is a multi-use airfield and home to the Portuguese Air Force. It would be three months before the young family would be reunited.

Jody reflects on the incredible strength and fortitude of her mother “My mother had to make all of the arrangements and travel overseas with four young children under the age of five. Her spirits were buoyed by her faith, amazing Military family neighbors, and the letters that she exchanged with my dad. I have those letters today. This is an example of some of the everyday challenges and sacrifices that our Military families face on a daily basis. My heart goes out to all of the Military families then and since.”

Jody’s parents devoted their lives to the United States Military, Additional stations included Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX and Broomall, PA where Joseph earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania.

The family was transferred to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL where Jody’s mother earned a Master’s Degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois and was inducted into the Veterans Honor Society. “It was 1972. At 13 I remember attending base functions and checking the Vietnam MIA list for the name on my MIA bracelet. I still have that bracelet.”

In 1974 Joseph was transferred to Adana, Turkey at Incirlik Air Base – home to the 39th Air Wing, which provides vital support to 20 Units, including the Squadrons of the 39th Mission Support and the 39th Medical Group. It was there that Joseph Witmer died on Active Duty. It was suspected he had contracted hepatitis which was something he frequently treated Military personnel for in Turkey. Jody says, “My father died on December 28th, 1976. He and my mother gave me a rare life. Life as a Military dependent offered me a chance to experience the world abroad and to gain a greater appreciation for my own country. My perspective on the world has been indelibly changed and broadened as a direct result of our Military life. I learned to develop empathy, understanding, and acceptance for cultural differences. I am profoundly grateful. I cherish every moment as a 'Military brat' and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”

Jody reflects on this monumental moment in the life of her family, especially her mother. “When my dad died overseas, my mom had to move all of us back to the United States. We mourned not only my dad, but the end of our life in the Military. My father had a huge family in Boise, Idaho and she felt it was best for us to live here. Mom is 86. She runs a parish nursing program at St. John’s Cathedral in Boise. Even at 86 she can’t deny her calling.”

Jody’s trajectory in life has been greatly influenced by her Catholic parents. She graduated from Bishop High School and the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications specializing in Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising. She married and has four beautiful children; Abby, Charley, Hailey and Aryn and makes her life, as her dad had always imagined, in Boise, Idaho.

It was after Jody accompanied her mom during her own home purchase that she decided on Real Estate as a profession. Jody appreciated her Real Estate agent’s role as a trusted advisor. Jody felt that to fill that role in someone else’s real estate transaction would be a worthy pursuit and suitable career. Her lifetime spent relocating and learning to communicate and empathize with new people and surroundings was a rich training ground for her chosen path as a Realtor.

They put their lives on the line every single day they are called to a site by running into burning buildings, rescuing and saving lives, all at the expense of their own life.

How often do we talk about First Responders, Nurses, and Psychologists? As the name states, First Responders are the first ones on the scene of an emergency and make quick, life-changing, decisions every day. Nurses are usually the ones that are there through the entire process whether it is an emergency or an illness. They are the ones that gather the information; explain in layman’s terms what is to be done; and create that calming effect for their patients. Judy cannot say enough about Psychologists: Psychologists are the “behind the scenes” people that help others deal with the kind of trauma we hope we’ll never need, like the loss of a child, PTSD, or teenage suicide attempts.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK, USA, September 11, 2015 / -- Jean Singleton, Associate Broker at Ron DiDonna Real Estate & Appraisals increases her level of commitment to the community of Veterans and Active Duty Military by earning her Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification.

Jean was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and went to Morrisville and Houghton Colleges in Upstate, New York, majoring in Journalism and Christian Education. Her father was an Air Force Veteran, History teacher and Principal. He also was a “Military buff” and some of her earliest memories are of listening to him talk about Military campaigns and watching him put together models of the airplanes used by the Military.

That love became more personal when her son enlisted in the Marines when he was 18 years old. She says, “One of the key things I learned listening to my son and his buddies in the Military was the number of unscrupulous people who target and take advantage of our Military men and women, so I have an actual need to make their transitions for PCS or from Military to civilian life as easy and stress-free as possible.”

The journey for Jean to get to the place of really being able to help was quite circuitous, but looking back, every turn was adding to her foundation to be a highly proactive, consistent, goal-oriented but still relationship-based Realtor. At an early age she began playing piano and many years later, it was piano and song writing that opened the door for her to attend college at Houghton. Shortly after graduating from college, Jean began working for the New York Conference of Mayors who created a position on their staff especially for her.

In 1986 Jean married her husband, Ceaser. A few years later she became her Pastor’s Secretary and Church Treasurer, and taught music and piano in the church’s school.

From there, she then went to work for her brother, Rob, the founder and CEO of a global Executive Recruiting firm. “I loved working there,” Jean says, “It was a very high energy and sometimes high tension job, but helping people find a great place to work is extremely fulfilling. I also enjoyed the research aspect of the work and especially the networking. And it gave me a good taste of helping people through something as stressful as changing jobs - an excellent preparation for bringing families through the extreme ins and outs of buying, selling and moving.”

The transition to becoming a Real Estate Salesperson occurred when Jean went to work for Rob’s friend, Ron DiDonna, a Real Estate Broker and writer, who needed some help with his books. He encouraged her to get her Real Estate license. It turned out to be the perfect job for Jean, combining her love of internet research and networking with her desire to help families through transitions in their life, and she found Ron DiDonna to be the best teacher she could have, with decades of experience in every aspect of Real Estate. Jean also earned her Broker’s license this year and is now Associate Broker at Ron DiDonna Real Estate & Appraisals.

Jean says, “As a Realtor, I have a network of everything for my clients such as home inspectors, lenders, contractors, attorneys and more. It’s really the quintessential occupation for someone who loves networking and connecting people.”

A large percentage of her clients are Military families, especially those who are relocating to work at the Naval Training Facility at NPTU Ballston Spa (Kesselring) and the NSA-Saratoga Springs or Stratton Air National Guard Base. Jean says, “There’s a constant rotation of classes going on at the site and we see a lot of Military members moving in and out of the area.”

Jean works with Veterans who are buying and selling their homes and Active-Duty Military who are relocating due to PCS or retirement, whether cross-country, OCONUS or just across town. She was one of the first Real Estate agents in the State of New York to receive her Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification. She says, “The MRP Certification is very important to me because it helps to show my commitment to our Military Families.”

As well as being a strong advocate for the Military in her work, Jean also volunteers at the Veterans Miracle Center (VMC) in Albany. The Veteran’s Miracle Center’s mission is to offer Veterans and active-duty Military personnel real solutions that will enhance their lives. The center provides clothing, personal care and hygiene products, ambulatory equipment, toys for their children and much more. They have specialists available in counseling for personal needs – FREE OF CHARGE – to Veteran’s and their immediate household. It’s essentially a Free Store for Veterans in need.

In terms of helping her clients to buy, sell or rent their home, Jean is the best of the best. As a member of the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, she has a plethora of personal connections and a vast network of agents and home sellers. She runs a thorough analysis of all properties and negotiates every deal to get her clients the best price possible using proven methods from her company’s 40+ years of experience. Jean is also very internet savvy and markets her clients’ homes on nearly 100 Real Estate and social media websites. Andy Smith is a polished, skilled and superb Real Estate agent at Beverly Hanks & Associates in Asheville, North Carolina. He is also an exceptionally accomplished Air Force Veteran.

Andy is a self-described ‘Military Brat'. His father served in the United States Air Force and while the family was on assignment in the Azores, Portugal, Andy was born.

The Azores is. an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. His father PSC’d to Omaha, Nebraska from the Azores, and then to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where he retired.

Andy graduated from Holy Cross High School and went to the University of South Carolina on a Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarship. He completed Officer Field Training at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas between his sophomore and junior years in college. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and Finance, and was commissioned upon graduation.

Andy, reported to active-duty after graduation. His first assignment was at Kirtland Air Force Base, in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a Cost and Management Analysis Officer. It was here that he met his future wife, Denise, who was a Civil Service Payroll Specialist. In this assignment, Andy served as was a management consultant on the base and performed special assignments from the Commander, which included looking into cost efficiencies and cost reductions, in order for the base to run smoothly and efficiently. During this assignment, he was recognized as the top Cost Analysis officer in the Military Airlift Command, and the entire USAF.

From Kirtland, Andy PCS’d on a remote tour to his birthplace, Lajes Field, Azores. “It was very surreal to be back in the Azores, where I was born.” He says, “The only thing I knew about it was from the pictures and slides my dad took when he was stationed there. But to go back as an adult member of the Air Force myself, well, it was quite amazing! The lifestyle was awesome. It’s a small island and you can see the entire Island in one day. The people, the culture and the landscape are so beautiful. The lush, green, rolling hills, flowers, just take your breath away. While there, I enjoyed the local food and wine, including Portuguese rolls, the best lobster ever, and maybe surprisingly, the best fried chicken too. I am so thankful to have lived there for 15 months, because I always wanted to go on an overseas tour and the Azores was perfect for me in so many ways.”

On a TDY from the Azores, Andy attended a conference in St. Louis and got engaged to Denise. They later married in Alburquerque, New Mexico, (mid-tour) and after a 5-week honeymoon, Denise visited the Azores for two months.

Andy was then assigned to Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts, where he was a Cost Estimator for major government weapon system acquisitions. He worked primarily on the terminal systems for the Military Strategic and Tactical Relay (MILSTAR) satellite system. At the time, it largest satellite system in the DoD, with a life cycle cost of 17 billion dollars. It was during this assignment that he and Denise bought their first house.

Andy then PCS’d back to Kirtland Air Force Base for three years as a Budget Officer for the base, including a period as acting Commander for the Comptroller Squadron. After that assignment, he received a special duty assignment where he taught ROTC at the University of New Mexico. Twenty years later, he still stays in touch with many of his students. He says, “Many of them are Lieutenant Colonel’s now. It’s very cool to be able to see them throughout their careers. I loved teaching and working with the young Military-oriented students. It’s an awesome experience. Many of them still call me for financial and Real Estate advice. It doesn’t get any better than that!”

Andy was transferred to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs where he was the financial management inspector on the AF Space Command Inspector General team. “I went to all of the Military bases in the command and to all of the Controller Squadrons to look at their books to ensure they were in compliance with the rules and regulations, and tested their wartime readiness.” He then transferred to F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming as the Comptroller Squadron Commander and Chief Financial Officer for the entire base.

After two years as squadron commander, Andy made his last PCS back to Peterson AFB, where he served as a budget analyst for NORAD and US Northern Command. He retired in summer of 2007. Andy recalls, “I was thinking about what I wanted to do when I retired. Denise and I had sold 4 homes, built 4 homes and been reluctant landlords. With a degree in real estate, and more than 20 years o financial experience, I decided that I would get my Real Estate license. I didn’t want a 9-5 job and felt I could use my financial background and PCS experience to do the best job for my clients.”

While getting started in real estate, Andy got sidetracked from his Real Estate aspirations, as he was appointed as a lecturer of finance at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business, a private college. “I taught introductory and intermediate finance classes for undergraduate and graduate students, averaging 400 students per year for seven years. That was my primary passion. But, we were looking for a change, a more laid back lifestyle, so we decided to move to Hendersonville, North Carolina where we built our house. It’s a beautiful place to live. I love it here.”

BEAVERCREEK, OHIO, UNITED STATES, June 16, 2016 / -- Susan Essex is a very passionate and highly esteemed Real Estate agent at RE/MAX Victory in Dayton, Ohio where she was born and raised.

After graduating from Northridge High School, Susan began working in the finance department at NCR – a cash register company that provides scanners and high tech equipment for Fortune 500 companies such as Walmart.

Susan’s father, Albert Shelor, served in the United States Army Air Corps and then on to the Air Force. When stationed in Japan he was involved in an unfortunate accident while riding his motorcycle. He was hit by an Air Force Weapons Carrier truck driven by civilians and was in a coma for two weeks and lost his leg after many unsuccessful surgeries. During his recovery and rehabilitation, Albert was transferred to Hawaii, then to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base hospital in Dayton, Ohio. It was there that met a fellow Corpsman who worked at the hospital who introduced him to his sister-in-law, whom he married.

Susan says, “My father was an amazing man. Even though his leg had been amputated, he received his prosthesis and got busy in the Tool & Dye business as a toolmaker, machinist and model maker at General Motors. He also made all of the furniture in our house which were as beautiful as Ethan Allen. Not only that, but he was an accomplished gunsmith and made all kinds of different guns.”

With such a wonderful father to look up to, it was no surprise that Susan would look for these stellar qualities in her own spouse. This happened when a neighbor set her up on a date with her future husband, Wayne. She says, “It was love at first sight for me. I knew immediately that this was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.”

Wayne graduated from Wright State University in Ohio then went to Liberty University in Virginia for his Master’s Degree and graduated with a Doctorate in Philosophy at Louisiana Baptist University. He owns an accounting firm in Dayton and teaches tax classes at Edison State Community College in Piqua.

Susan says, “Every year, Wayne does taxes for over 600 single mothers and widows – free of charge. It makes me so proud to see that he is helping so many people who are very appreciative of his work.”

Susan is equally proud of her two children, Michael and Sara. They both went to private Christian schools with Michael graduating from Troy Christian High School and Sara graduating from Dayton Christian High School.

Sara attended Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and began her career as a General Manager at Abercrombie & Fitch. Sara married her husband, Boyd, and moved to Texas where they have four children. Sara owns her own successful sewing business making quilts and baby bedding.

Michael attended Wright State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He married his wife, Leslie and they have two children. He is currently a Project Engineer for Shook Construction Company in Dayton.

Susan always had a love for houses. At a young age she enjoyed being outside and looking at houses and was interested in Real Estate. While still working at NCR, Susan took Real Estate classes and got her license in six weeks. She says, “I really enjoy communicating with people. I love the relationships that are created in the process of buying or selling a home.” Susan is even more passionate about our Military. Her father retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and she grew up in this Military community, however, it was the events of 911 that really shook her up. She says, “I was never so touched by the people who supported our Soldiers. When we went to war in Iraq, I was old enough and mature enough to understand their sacrifices and seeing such a critical piece of history with 911 truly ripped my heart out. I had so many friends go over to Iraq and I prayed continually for them. I feel very blessed to be able to live in this Country and I feel safe and secure because of the sacrifices of our Military members.”

Susan received an email from the National Association of Realtors announcing their new Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification classes. She was so excited to be able to earn this designation that she jumped at the chance to take the courses and was in the very first class for MRP’s in Columbus. She says, “I would give up anything for my Military clients. I am always willing to make any sacrifice for them. I think it is very important to have knowledge of the VA loan as well as an understanding the Military timetables. We live in such a wonderfully supportive Military community here surrounding Wright- Patterson and it’s such a blessing to work with Military families. This isn’t the only tragedy that Rhonda has endured due to war. Her brother, Larry, was a Vietnam Veteran who died from cancer due to being exposed to Agent Orange as a lot of our troops were. She says, “It was so sad. It went undetected for so long and he was really in a good place in life when he received the news. He died two months thereafter.”

Rhonda is thankful and grateful that she is near her family. Scotty is now a professional archer, coach for the Military Warrior Games, individual instructor (Follow Your Arrow located in Lebanon), and team member of the Paralympic team. Scotty, his wife Brook (from the area) and children live in the Nashville area.

Corey, her youngest son, has always been very goal oriented. He played college football at Ohio University with overcoming his own obstacles after tearing his ACL. Within weeks, he recovered and finished out a remarkable career. Corey dedicated his Senior year of football to his brother, Scotty, and all who served our country. He was featured on ESPN and other sports channels. He now lives in Jacksonville Beach, Florida with his wife Tricia and is the Real Estate Principle Broker for Engel & Volkers.

Twelve years as a mortgage loan officer working with and directly supporting Real Estate agents, twenty plus years in the financial industry, fifteen years in management positions and having an independent, self-motivated spirit helps qualify Rhonda. Licensed in the State of Alaska in 2012, she obtained her Associate Broker license early 2015, MRP (Military Relocation Professional) and CRS (Council of Residential Specialists) Designations in June 2017, and Affiliate Broker license in the state of Tennessee early 2018. Rhonda serves the communities in Wilson County and other surrounding counties including Montgomery County city of Clarksville where Ft, Campbell Army base is located. It is one of the few states that has The Tennessee State Guard, which is the all-volunteer arm of the Tennessee Military Department and part of the TN National Guard, Military Entrance Processing Station both based in the Nashville area. TENNESSEE (Clarksville) - Jeff Danault ~ Fort Campbell

CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE, USA, January 9, 2018 / -- Jeff Danault is a phenomenal and remarkable Realtor in Clarksville, Tennessee. He is also an Army Veteran and former Police Officer.

Jeff was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, graduated from Manchester West High School and enlisted in the United States Army. Basic training and AIT took place at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Upon completion, he was assigned to 1/502nd Infantry Division at the 101st Airborne Division Ft. Campbell Kentucky. Later, while at the 1/502nd - Jeff was deployed to the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in Sinai, Egypt. Here, he set two goals to accomplish in 6 months. First, to get promoted to E4 (Specialist) and second, to get in shape and bench press a personal best of 300 pounds or more. He achieved both of these goals!

Before departing Egypt, Jeff re-enlisted and changed his MOS to a 67T, which at that time was a Blackhawk Crew Chief. He then attended Blackhawk Helicopter mechanic school at Ft. Eustis Virginia, graduated and received orders to Korea.

Upon arrival in Korea, Jeff was assigned to 2-2 Aviation at Camp Stanley, Korea. After just a month in a maintenance platoon, he was moved to a flight company. Here, he trained as a crew chief, became sling-load and NVG qualified for flights and was soon after assigned to the Commanding General as his personal crew chief. He says, “Flights with the General were never dull. Either picking him up at functions, field training exercises or flights along the DMZ, it was always very exciting!”

After a year in Korea, Jeff found himself back at Ft. Campbell and faced with the decision to stay in the military or pursue his career in the civil world. His plan was to get into Law Enforcement. Not having enough time and money to wait for a position to open at the local Police Department, he put himself through Truck Driving school. He graduated and began working for TMC as a flatbed over the road driver. After about a year, Jeff’s daughter was born, and he left TMC for a local job.

In 2004, Jeff landed his first Law Enforcement job as a Jail Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He did three years, then secured a job with the Clarksville Police Department. He attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy where he graduated with a post exam score of 98% and was President of his class ranking in the top ten of his class.

After almost 5 years on Patrol, Jeff was promoted to an FTO Field Training Officer (FTO) and received the lifesaving award after finding a shooting victim and applying a tourniquet that ended up saving the victims life. In March of 2011, he left the Police Force for a more business-oriented career path, working as a General Manager. Then, on a cold rainy day while bringing his daughter to Karate class, Jeff’s daughter happened to point out a Real Estate School right next door. He followed his gut, made a phone call to the Real Estate agent (who sold him his house) and the next day, they met and he enrolled in school.

In just over four years, Jeff worked with both buyers and sellers and established himself as a member of the Associate Leadership Committee (ALC). He also taught personal growth classes with another agent. He now works closely with an investor who buys and sells homes on a weekly basis.

In 2016, things started to change for Jeff. He was completing a coaching program that dealt with personal growth and the setting of goals. This mindset shift started to make him realize that he was lacking something in his life. It wasn’t until a conversation with his daughter that he realized what he was missing. A simple question, “Dad, do you really believe you can do anything you put your mind too?” His answer was like any other great dad. “Yes.”

At the time, Jeff had no huge personal goal. That same night, a Netflix documentary came on entitled “Inspired to Ride.” It was a story of people racing Road Bicycles across the country, through 10 states, two mountain ranges and the great plains for a total of 4,233 miles. Jeff didn’t own a bike, was out of shape and didn’t have the cash to buy one as they are super expensive. He then announced to his daughter that he was going to accomplish the race in June of 2020. He joined a gym and started getting in shape and riding a stationary spinner. Within two months, he had managed to trade all of his hunting gear for a 23 year old steel frame road bike and taught himself how to rebuild it with the help of a local shop. June 11th - 2016, he started riding. He grinded out over 1000 miles by the end of the year.

Jeff now rides a brand new Giant TCR 1 Advanced Road Bike and is about to breach 3,000 miles for 2017. The goal of racing across the country has not only become a reality, it has also become his brand!

A former client started calling him “The Cycling Realtor”. The name stuck and now Jeff is branded as such with his own logo. He believes through his efforts on his bike and attaching a charity to his big race, he will be able to attract a large amount of people to what he is doing.

Jeff is also building a nationwide referral network and pays out 50% to all closed leads that are sent to him from another agent. He believes growth comes when you give back a little more!

COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS, USA, June 27, 2018 / -- Sharon Greenwood is an accomplished, caring, well-informed, extremely diligent and skilled Real Estate Agent with EXIT Heart of Texas Realty in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Sharon was born in Nuremberg, Germany, due to her father being stationed there, serving in the United States Army. Nuremberg is rich with history. The imperial courts met here, and every newly elected emperor was obligated by decree to hold his first Imperial Diet at Kaiserburg. 

The castle at the circular Sinwell Tower dates to the 14th century and there’s an observation platform at the top floor where you can marvel at the best panorama of the city. Sheltered in half-timbered houses in the courtyard below is the Tiefer Brunnen (Deep Well), which bores 50 meters into the sandstone. The Palas, which was used for the castle’s official functions, has been reworked several times since the Middle Ages and has a museum filling you in on Kaiserburg’s elevated position in the Holy Roman Empire.

Although Sharon was born and raised in Germany, she was considered to be an American and did not have dual citizenship. She grew up speaking both English and German fluently and being bi-lingual, this served her well. She says, “I love Germany and never wanted to leave. There are so many experiences that I had growing up that I cherish to this day. I feel very blessed to have been able to grow up there as a ‘Military Brat’ and to be able to travel to the United States when my father got orders.”

Sharon’s family moved frequently to different areas for different duty-stations including Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Benning, Georgia before moving back to Germany where Sharon graduated from Nuremberg American High School, while her father was in Vietnam. Sharon says, “We lived 30 minutes from the base and my Oma Frieda lived with us on the economy. There were no government quarters available, so I was able to grow up with horses, which I love dearly and I still own horses today. My dad retired from Active-Duty and then worked for the Army-Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and always stayed connected to the Military.”

Sharon met her future husband, Charles Greenwood, at a Country Club in Nuremberg called “The Nashville.” He was briefly stationed at O’Brien Barracks in Schwabach and also was from Michigan, just like her father. They got married in Germany and then Charlie got orders to go to Fort Hood in Texas where they lived for 18 months before PCS’ing back to Germany where Charlie was stationed at the U.S. Military Base in Darmstadt for 4 years. He was also deployed to Bosnia one of those four years.

Sharon and Charlie have three children – Steve, Charlene, and Scott. When Charlie completed his Military service, the family moved to Michigan where he got his water-well drilling license and Sharon worked at a water testing lab. Charlie re-enlisted in the Army and was again, assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, as a mechanic working on Army vehicles. Sharon got her Real Estate license here in 2004 and they bought several properties.

During this time, Charlie was deployed several times to the Middle East. Their final duty-station was in Hawaii where Charlie served at Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks. Sharon says, “I loved living in Hawaii, it was truly paradise. The water, mountains, oceans, temperature, it was so beautiful. I even had a pineapple patch and went to hula dancing classes every week on the post!”

Because the Greenwood’s owned commercial and residential properties in Texas, they decided to live there permanently after Charlie retired from the Army after 20+ years and Sharon, once again, did Real Estate full time. She says, “My whole career has been helping Veterans and I love doing VA loans. I was elated when I found out that the National Association of Realtors offered the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification and I was very proud to earn it. I wish that I had an MRP when we bought our houses the first time to help guide us. It’s so important to have an agent who understands each individual situation. The Certified Real Estate Team Specialist Certification is the first and only teams certification recognized by The National Association of REALTORS®.
